he Scotland ninth-grade girls basketball team fought hard but in the end, a ten-point, third quarter deficit was just too much for them to overcome, falling to Richmond Green, 34-27.

The Lady Scots went nearly four minutes in the first quarter without a point and trailed, 7-1 after the first quarter of play following a three-point basket by the Lady Raiders, Heather Locklear. It was her only points of the game.

Missed free throws and turnovers prevented the Lady Raiders from putting the game out of reach as Scotland cut the lead to just four (28-24) follwoing a big basket from Julianna McKenzie.

Richmond’s scoring drought lasted over five minutes in the fourth before a pair of free throws by Alexis Gibson, put an end to the drought.
