U.S. Rep Larry Kissell has earned the endorsement of the North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) in his race for re-election, his campaign announced on Monday.
“As a former teacher, Larry Kissell is committed to making sure our students and teachers have the resources they need,” said Rodney Ellis, NCAE President. “He understands the importance of providing a good education to our young people, and his pro public education voice is needed in Congress.”
The NCAE represents tens of thousands of teachers throughout the state, including thousands in the 8th District. Kissell, a former high school educator, has earned the support of the organization in each of his campaigns for Congress.
“Education is the key to preparing our children for success and will serve as an important part of our economic recovery, and I’m honored to have the support of teachers throughout our state and district,” said Kissell. “As a former schoolteacher, I’ve seen the needs in the classroom and I’ve also seen the way funding is handled in Washington. I’ll continue to work to ensure that decisions that impact our children are being made at local levels on the ground, not by bureaucrats in Washington.”
Kissell faces Republican challenger Richard Hudson in November. Antonio Blue, a Democrat, is also seeking Kissell’s seat as a write-in candidate.
