To the editor:

In regards to Mr.Currie’s letter about the jobs leaving Scotland County. It’s not the reason he said. They left because Scotland County has the highest taxes county in North Carolina.

When Abbots left Laurinburg they took the jobs to Rocky Mount were they had a plant already where they didn’t have to pay the high taxes .They will never get any jobs that pay anything to come here either.

If we don’t get a new president in November we lose alot more than jobs.

Even if the country did turn around and the United States was doing great, Laurinburg would probably still be the same. We need to change these failed economic policies and high taxes and start offering some incentives for businesses and plants to come to Laurinburg. Until we can entice businesses to come our way or at the very least build a superhighway to Fayetteville to feed off of their success, our businesses will continue to leave and our property values will continue to drop.
