To the editor:

When I was on council, we had a booklet that covered a code of conduct for the council, the mayor, the city manager, the clerk and others. I think from what I see and hear on the re-broadcast of council meetings and the reports from this news paper that the booklet needs to be brought back out and studied by all involved. It states that we were to treat each other with respect.

We have been blessed by many faithful employees that I was privileged to get to know and observe and I regret that they have been the object of threats about losing their jobs In every group there are always some who may not be as productive as others but Thank God we are not all made alike. You may have 10 people waiting for each job, but who is going to train them and how do you give them the valuable experience that you have lost?

In my opinion Craig Honeycutt was a good City Manager. He knew his job and carried it out in a very professional manner. When a council member attends school at the Institute of Governments, he finds out what the duties of his office entail. I remember that we were told that we were not to attempt to hire or fire anyone or try and and be managers.

If all this is due to budget stress, I do hope you can return to governing us with more respect for each other, for staff, and for your employees. The citizens are watching and listening to all of you.
