A hospital visit, regardless of the patient’s age or their length of stay, can be difficult, sometimes painful, and most patients look forward to going home to recuperate in a familiar environment.
Those recovering from an illness or surgery often need a little tender loving care upon returning home from their hospital visit, according to Scotland Health Care System. With that in mind, the hospital and Campbell Soup Company teamed up to provide soup to hospital patients to enjoy upon returning home from their hospital discharge.
With the cold weather now here, the company's believe a hot bowl of chicken noodle soup is just the thing to add warmth and cheer, hopefully, aid the healing process.
Scotland Health Care System Auxiliary members will distribute a can of Campbell’s Healthy Select chicken noodle soup to each hospitalized patient, usually upon the day of discharge.
The label attached to each can states: "Stay Healthy. Enjoy the Soup. Compliments of Scotland Memorial Hospital and Campbell Soup Company."
Greg Wood, president and CEO of Scotland Health Care System, says Campbell Soup's donation warms the soul of patients.
"We greatly appreciate Campbell Soup partnering with us to provide soup to our patients," Wood said. "A can of soup is a wonderfully symbolic way to show we wish each patient a speedy recovery."
Mark Cacciatore, senior director of operations for the Maxton Campbell soup plant, says he is delighted with the partnership with Scotland Health Care System to distribute chicken noodle soup to the patients.
"This program matches perfectly with Campbells’ success model to win in the work place and in our communities," Cacciatore said. "This is a way to win while serving our community. Campbell’s has scores of healthy soups that are nourishing and delicious and we are glad to partner with Scotland Health Care System on this project."
