Gladys Pauline Snipes Sanford, 86, of Laurinburg passed away on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Central United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

She is survived by her sons Jerry Sanford (Kathy) and Earl Sanford (Sallie Stephenson) of Laurinburg, James Sanford of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Jamie Kettlety (Caroline) of Laurel Hill, and Ray Kettlety of Greensboro, nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was born in Richmond County on July 31, 1926, a daughter of the late Victor Edward and Bessie Beatrice Wright Snipes and widow of the late Earl Noah Sanford. She retired as a shipping clerk for Waverly Mills in 1991 after 45 years of service.

In her free time she enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and being with her grandchildren.

An active member of Central United Methodist Church, she was a member and past president of the Happy Methodists, and was a member of the East Laurinburg Senior Citizens.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
