George Andrew Beckwith, age 78 of Laurinburg passed away on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009.

A private memorial service is being planned for a later date.

Mr. Beckwith proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years of dedicated service. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was awarded many medals for his service and bravery.

Mr. Beckwith was preceded in death by sons Michael Beckwith and Steven Kenneth Beckwith and by brother John Goril.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mrs. Annemarie Beckwith of the home; his children, Cathleen Ann Boutot of New Jersey and Cindy Kirkendall of Laurinburg; his grandchildren, Ryan Kirkendall, Sean Kirkendall, Daniel Kirkendall, Henry Beckwith, Kelly Beckwith, Steven Boutot, and Kevin Boutot; and a great-grandson, Brandon Beckwith.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made in memory of Mr. Beckwith to the Humane Society of Scotland County, 1401 West Blvd, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
