Emma Neal Maddox, 94, passed away on Friday, Jan. 4, 2012.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Monday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel. Burial followed in Hillside Memorial Park.

She is survived by her sister Annie Laurie Smith of Laurinburg, two nieces: Pat Culp and Judy Lee of Charlotte, nephew Tommy Maddox of Greensboro, several great-nieces, nephews, and great-great nieces.

Born Nov. 5, 1918 in Laurinburg, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Cora Beasley Maddox. For 45 years she was a shipping clerk for Waverly Mills, and following her retirement she assisted Jack and Tink Rushing at Village Cleaners. Later she served for many years as a hostess at General McArthur’s Restaurant.
