Dean Stanley Doren, 76, of Avon Park, Fla., formerly of Laurinburg, passed away early Thursday morning, Aug. 30, 2012.

Dean was born on May 30, 1936 in Greenwich, Ohio to Lawrence Roswell and Bernice Marie (Immel) Doren. He graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1954, where he met the love of his life, and wife of 55 years, Colleen Genson Doren. The couple was married on Nov.3, 1956.

Dean studied civil engineering and played baseball and basketball at Ohio University, where he graduated in 1960. Dean will be remembered by his entire family as a role model. He was loving, forgiving, generous, and funny.
