Teen accused as burglar
A 19-year old Laurinburg man is accused of stealing from a county building, according to a sheriff's report.
Johnathan Jordan Groves, of Lees Mill Road, was arrested Monday morning and charged with burglary by forcible entry, larceny and conspiracy, according to a sheriff's report. Groves is accused of breaking into the Scotland County Recycling Center at 1600 Johns Church Road in Laurel Hill.
Groves was placed in Scotland County jail under a $5,000 bond. The report said he was the second person arrested in this case.
Break-in targets 71-year old
A 71-year old Maxton man was the victim of a break-in over the weekend, according to a sheriff's report.
James Scott, 71, of McGirt Gin Road, reported on Sunday that someone broke into his home and stole property, according to a sheriff’s report.
Missing were $2,075 worth of guns, $1,600 worth of jewelry, $500 in electronics, $300 in clothing, and $100 in silver dollars.
Equipment stolen
A Maxton man reported $1,000 in construction equipment stolen from his home.
Gene Dial, 62, of Old Baker Road, reported on Saturday that someone stole $550 worth of aluminum walk board and $450 in ladders from his home, according to a sheriff’s report.
Gibson break-in reported
A Gibson residence was the victim of a break-in.
David Seagroves, 44, told deputies on Monday that someone broke the glass out of his back door and stole his $300 flat screen television, $250 water well pressure tank and $50 George Foreman grill, according to a sheriff's report. Also stolen was a $200 stereo from the car of Stephanie Marie Krupp, 25, which was at the residence. The break-in happened sometime between 5 p.m. Saturday and 7:40 a.m. Monday. Damages were estimated at $125.
