One hospitalized after assault

A 48-year old Wagram man is in custody after sending another to the hospital in a Thanksgiving day assault, according to a sheriff's report.

Kevin Harris, Arch McLean Road, was arrested Thursday at about 7 p.m. and charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury, the report said. Harris is accused of striking 29-year old James Thomas with an unknown object while the two were at a residence on Blakely Road in Laurinburg.

The Wagram man was placed in Scotland County jail under a $15,000 bond.

Truck reported tampered with

A 68-year old Laurel Hill man told deputies someone was trying to take him for a wild ride, according to a sheriff's report.

Marshall R. Patterson, of Bunch Road, said someone cut the brake line, airbag sensor wires and oxygen sensor wires on his red 2005 Ford F-150 sometime between Nov. 18 and 20, the report said. He reported the incident Wednesday.

The damage was estimated at $580.

Domestic dispute lands two in jail

A Wagram couple was taken into custody after a domestic dispute led to one seeking medical treatment, according to a sheriff's report.

Jimmie Sue Morton, 49, and Timothy Lee Morton, 46, both of Louise Drive, were arrested after an EMS unit came to treat Mr. Morton, according to a sheriff's report.

Jimmie Morton is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and violating a domestic violence protective order and Timothy Morton was charged with assault on a female, the report said.

Both were placed in Scotland County jail without bond.

Two car thefts reported

Two cars were reported stolen from the Maxton area.

Debra Smith, 46, of Lee Mobile Home Park, reported Nov. 20 that someone stole a 1994 Saturn car from her home, according to a sheriff’s report. It was valued at $1,320.

Shellie Bartley, 52, told deputies on Saturday that someone stole her 1996 Buick Regal from her Preston Road home, according to another sheriff’s report. It was valued at $2,000.

Man charged for delinquency

A Laurel Hill man resisted officers while being arrested for a delinquency charge, according to a sheriff's report.

Dennis Ray Elvis, 53, of Fork Street, is charged with resisting arrest and contributing to the delinquency of minors, the report said. He was placed in Scotland County jail under a $500 bond.

Fence reported stolen

A large section of fence was reported stolen by an area business.

Campbell Soup told deputies on Tuesday that someone stole a section of fence valued at $1,500 from a spray field on N.C. 71, according to a sheriff’s report.
