Fugitive caught

A Virginian fugitive was arrested in Gibson, a sheriff's report said.

Tammy Marie Elliot, 35, of Church Street in Gibson was wanted for failure to appear in court on two counts of breaking and entering and two counts of grand larceny, Investigator George Britt said.

She was arrested Wednesday morning and placed in Scotland County jail under a $20,000 bond.

Felon charged with gun violations

A convicted felon was arrested Wednesday for firing a gun into occupied property., a sheriff's report said.

Shawn Cummings, 33, of Pea Bridge Road in Laurinburg, is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and discharging a firearm into occupied property.

Cummings was placed in Scotland County jail under a $25,000 bond.

Cummings has served close to three years in prison during two prior periods of incarceration and has seven felony convictions, including assault with a deadly weapon, breaking and entering and larceny, according to DOC records.
