Woman charged with hit and run
A Laurinburg woman was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly fleeing from an accident scene, a Laurinburg police report said.
Jaleese Danielle Manning, 21, of East Vance Street, is charged with felony hit and run, improper passing and driving without a license.
An officer noticed a silver four-door Chrysler that appeared to have been in an accident. The vehicle was damaged on the passenger side and right, rear-quarter.
The driver, Charmain Wilson, told the officer she was making a right turn into a housing complex near Hall Street when a burgundy 2002 Ford Explorer struck the passenger side of her vehicle.
She said the driver told her they had to drop someone off and would come back and check on them but did not.
Wilson had four passengers in her car, two of which were taken to Scotland Memorial Hospital by EMS for treatment.
Police located the owner of the vehicle, Derek Antonio Jones, on Pine Street. He told officers that Manning was driving at the time. He said the Chrysler did not use a turn signal or brake lights when turning and that is why Manning struck the vehicle. He also told officers that the driver of the Chrysler drove away before he could check their condition.
Bag of equipment stolen
A Scotland High School student reported that a bag of sports equipment was stolen from a gas station, a Laurinburg police report said.
Carmel Strimbeam, 16, of Graham Road, told officers that her blue jean bag, which contained a Don Joy Knee Brace worth $800 and a pair of volleyball shoes, from the Hess gas station across from the high school. She had left her bag there by accident at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday and the bag was no longer there when she returned at 7:23 p.m.
Man charged with resisting officer
A Wagram man is accused of not cooperating with police, a sheriff's report said.
Andrew Lamont Jackson, 42, of Carraige Circle, was served a warrant Tuesday night charging him with resisting a public officers.
