Brian Neal Black, 23, of Laurel Hill passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 at the McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, S.C.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park. The Rev. Kenneth Powell, Sr., will officiate the service.

Brian was born on June 2, 1989 in Richmond County, son of Roger Craig Black and Michelle Beasley Powell. Before his accident he was employed with Mountaire in Lumber Bridge. He was mechanically inclined and loved working with his hands. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, doing yard work, and caring for animals. Brian had a kind, gentle soul and all were blessed by his presence.

He was preceded in death by a grandmother: Dot “Nanny” Bundy.

Surviving are his parents Roger Black of the home in Laurel Hill and Michelle and Donald “Donnie” Powell of Supply, his brother Roger “Craig” Black, II of the home, grandparents Billy Black of Raeford, Jimmy Beasley of Laurinburg, and Betty ReVille and husband Jack of Laurel Hill, great-grandmother Rosa Scarboro of Aberdeen, aunts and uncles Cindy and Joe Carpenter of Laurinburg, Mike and Billy Kay Black of Lake Tillery, Lisa and James Hunt of Wagram, and Jenny and Randy Cox of Morehead City, many cousins, and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012 at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel.

The family requests that memorial gifts be made to the American Cancer Society for Scotland County.
