Area churches to hold Christmas Eve services

The Christmas spirit will be expressed in full tonight when a number of area churches offer Christmas Eve services for the public. Here are some of the following:

Bright Hopewell Baptist Church at 610 N. Main St. in Laurinburg will hold a Christmas fellowship program beginning at 6 p.m. A variety of presentations including praise dances with tiny tots and intermediates, an instrumental solo by Megan Vanderhall, a Christmas parade with preschoolers, a solo of "Sweet Little Jesus Boy" by Patricia DeBerry, the singing of Christmas carols and a meal will take place. Everyone is invited.

Caledonia United Methodist Church at 15201 Barnes Bridge Road will hold a Christmas Candlelight Service at 5 p.m.

First Baptist Church at 302 East Church St., Laurinburg, will hold a Christmas Eve service and communion at 5 p.m.

First Presbyterian Church at 303 N. Patterson Street in Maxton will host their annual Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m. The service is for families and will feature candlelight communion. Dr. Robert Dendy and the officers and congregation invite all to attend.

First United Methodist Church at 101 West Church Street in Laurinburg will hold three separate services at 5:30, 7 and at 11 p.m. The first will be for children and families, with singing and communion with Rev. Brown. The second will be an open communion for families as a group, and the third will be a traditional candlelight communion. The public is invited.

Laurinburg Presbyterian Church at 600 West Church Street in Laurinburg will hold candlelight communion services at 5:30 and at 11 p.m.

The Lutheran Church of the Living Word at 1925 South Main Street, Laurinburg will hold a worship service beginning at 5:30 p.m. that concentrates on the music of the season. All are invited to bring bells to ring during caroling. Communion and a candlelight service will follow.

Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church at 25020 Nazareth Church Road in Wagram will hold a Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church at 15301 McFarland Road will hold communion with a Christmas Eve message beginning at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Randy Bremer. Everyone is invited.

St. David's Episcopalian Church at the corner of Covington Street and Azure Court in Laurinburg will have music and a hand bell choir at 8 p.m. with a candlelight service.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 306 Fayetteville Avenue in Bennettsville, S.C. will hold a traditional Christmas Eve eucharist at 7 p.m. Nursery services will be provided.

St. Paul's United Methodist Church at 106 West Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Maxton will hold a candlelight communion from 5 to 7 p.m. The public is invited.

Trinity Presbyterian Church at 13000 Blues Farm Road, Laurinburg, will invites all to a "family friendly" Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. with Holy Scriptures, Christmas Carols, communion and candlelight. Music begins at 5:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. All are invited.
