Man charged with break-in

A man is in the Scotland County jail charged with a July break-in and probation violations.

According to a sheriff's report, Scotland deputies arrested 31-year old Anthony Saventis McQueen, of McLeod Road in Red Springson Friday. He is charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and three probation violations.

McQueen is in jail under a $50,000 bond – $15,000 for the July 8 break-in and $35,000 for the probation violations that date back to April.

McQueen, also known as "King Omega Prophet" and "Prophet Allah," was on probation in Wake County for assault, larceny, possession of a schedule II and wanton injury to personal property, according to DOC records.

Man accused of drug dealing

A 68-year old Laurinburg man was charged with six counts of drug charges Friday, according to a police report.

According to the report, Robert Edward Cooke was arrested at his First Street home and charged with two counts of possession with the intent so sell and deliver a schedule II within 1,000 feet of a daycare, once count of possession with the intent to sell and deliver a schedule IV, maintaining a drug dwelling, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police seized hydrocodone, clonazepam, marijuana and drug paraphernalia while executing a search warrant on Cooke's home.

Cooke was placed in Scotland County jail under a $10,000 bond.

Burned car found

Police found a burned vehicle early Saturday morning, according to a police report.

Officers found a burgundy 2008 Toyota Corolla, valued at $23,000, destroyed by fire on McLaurin Street.

The car was traced to 24-year Markita Janise McRae, of East Vance Street, who hadn't yet discovered the vehicle was missing. McRae told police she kept a set of keys in the glove box.

Police have no suspects yet in the case.

Man charged with pointing gun

A Maxton man was arrested after being accused of threatening someone at gunpoint, according to a Robeson County sheriff's report.

The report says 39-year old Kenneth Bryant, of McBred Road, was arrested Wednesday and charged with simple assault, assault by pointing a gun, and assault with a deadly weapon.

He was placed in Robeson County jail.

Bryant has previously been convicted of assault by pointing a gun, as well as breaking and entering, larceny and communicating threats, according to DOC records.
