Scotland tennis lessons


set to start March 3


LAURINBURG — The Scotland County Tennis Center and Scotland County Parks and Recreation will be holding tennis lessons beginning in March for grades K-8.


Lessons for all ages will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays starting March 3. Grades K-2 will play from 4:15 to 5 p.m. and third grade and higher will play from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. The cost for grades K-2 is $50 a month for two days a week or $40 a month for one day a week. For the older age group, it is $60 a month for two days a week or $50 a month for one day a week.


Call 277-2592 or show up on March 3 to register. All lessons will be held at the Tennis Center on Atkinson Street and will be conducted by Leigh Carter, Jeanne Roller and Pam Naves.


Registration begins for


Parks and Rec spring sports


LAURINBURG — Registration for Scotland County Parks and Recreation baseball, softball and t-ball will begin on Feb. 24 and last through March 1.


Boys ages 5 through 12 and girls ages 5 through 15 can sign up at three separate offices. Scotland Place on Turnpike Road will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on March 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wagram Recreation Center will be open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Laurel Hill Community Center will be open Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 5:30 p.m.


Cost is $15 per player for Scotland County residents and $35 for out-of-county residents. Late registration will be available from March 3-7 for $20. Players can also register online at www.scotlandcounty.org/parks-and-recreation.aspx.


Booster passes on sale


for Scotland spring sports


LAURINBURG — Scotland High School booster passes are being sold around Laurinburg for $75.


The passes, which get the carrier into any sporting event throughout the school year, are being sold at Harley’s Tuxedo and Gifts, Quick Copy and Shirt Tales.


Many of the spring sports at the high school get underway in the next two weeks.
