Crime report for Jan. 8

LAURINBURG — Lloyd Junior Miller, 46, of 17620 Fieldcrest Road, was arrested on Monday, charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping and held under a $15,000 bond, according to a police report. It was reported that Jamesia Malloy, of Laurinburg, was walking along Alder Road around 10 a.m. when Miller approached her, knife in hand, and pushed her into the nearby woods. He took her purse but Malloy struggled with him before he fled. When Malloy ran to seek help she came across city employees working on Alder Road and police officers later found Miller on Gulf Street where they pursued him in a short chase before taking him into custody. Malloy was transported to Scotland Memorial Hospital for her injuries, however, the extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.
LAURINBURG — Tracy Maynor, 35, of 276 Revels Road in Maxton, was served with an order for arrest for worthless checks and a warrant for trespassing, according to a police report. Maynor was held under a $500 secured bond.
LAURINBURG — Sarah Jane Hart, 27, of Rockingham, was arrested for forging a doctor’s signature, according to a police report. She was charged with common law forgery and uttering and attempt to obtain property by false pretense. She was held under a $10,000 unsecured bond.
WAGRAM — William Hoyes, 71, and Tara Hoyes, 35, of 33980 Hill Creek Road, received warrants on Monday, according to a sheriff’s report. William was charged with a misdemeanor assault on a female and was not given a bond. Tara was charged with misdemeanor communicating threats and was held under a $300 unsecured bond.
LAURINBURG — Phillip Monroe reported Monday that he was parked in the Walmart parking lot when someone stole prescribed medication from his vehicle, according to a police report.
LAURINBURG — Minervia Smith, of Johns Road, reported on Monday that someone broke a window to her home but didn’t take anything from inside, according to a police report.
GIBSON — Damon Smith, of Lake Drive in Laurinburg, reported Monday that someone broke into a residence on Newton Street and stole about $500 worth of copper wiring and damaged a refrigerator, according to a sheriff’s report.
MARSTON — It was reported on Monday that someone broke into a home on Harris Road and stole approximately $1,349 worth of items from the residence, according to a sheriff’s report. The thief stole copper wiring, two televisions and caused about $500 worth of damage to the drywall.
LAURINBURG — Preston Smith, of Phritz Street, reported on Monday morning that the day before, at approximately 7:30 p.m., he was approached by two men as he was walking on College Drive, according to a police report. One of the men pulled out a gun and they stole Smith’s cell phone and wallet.
