To the editor:

On Wednesday an article ran about cutting teacher assistant pay. It also talked about the jobs that will be lost because there is just no money to pay for them. If you want to place blame for these cuts, you should lay them at the doorstep in Raleigh. It seems that our leadership in the Capitol believe our school system should be worked into the ground at the expense of our teachers and children. I find it funny that there is no money for education, yet the governor’s staff got huge pay increases of $13,000 or more per member.

Also the DHHS recieved a large raise this week too. The people of our local BOE are doing the best they can with what they have to work with, but when education is thought of as a luxury instead of a necessity then our whole way of life is in trouble. I can not stress how much everyone should get involved in the election process, and get rid of the ones at all levels of government who would have our children, and the ones who are charged with teaching them short changed, and wondering what happened.
