LAURINBURG — Fifth-grade students at I.Ellis Johnson, Pate Gardner, Washington Park and Covington Street have completed the Scotland County Humane Society’s six-week program on pet responsibility.


I.Ellis Johnson fifth-grader Hailey Scott was named the winner of an essay contest. Participants included Saquaisha Little, Janyiah Moore, Tamia McLean, Destiny Quick, Matthew Stevens, Carla Alford and Zhanaya Stephens.


North Laurinburg will participate in the program in May.
