LAURINBURG — A Laurinburg woman has accused a Scotland County EMS worker of stealing her husband’s medication when paramedics arrived at her home in response to a medical emergency last month.

“There was a direct accusation,” said assistant police chief Sessoms. “The medication was removed while EMS was at the residence.”

Scotland County EMS paramedic, Leslie Hallman, 36, of Hargrave St. in Laurel Hill, is charged with misdemeanor larceny. She signed a written promise to appear in court.

Lesley Cole, of Gilchrist Street, reported on March 27 that she called EMS when her husband, Ronald Cole, was suffering from a medical condition. Sessoms said she “claimed one of the EMS stole medication from her husband and an investigation was conducted.”

According to a police statement, the medication was prescribed hydrocodone pills.

“Evidence was recovered,” Sessoms said. “A bottle containing pills was recovered in a yard across the street.”

The investigation is ongoing.
