LAURINBURG — Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc, Laurinburg Alumnae Chapter, will on Friday present its 15th Jabberwock Pageant. The bi-annual event awards scholarships to contestants who compete in attire as well as a talent showcase which includes singing, dancing and oratory.

Contestants are Scotland High School sophomore Jahnita Melvin; Scotland High School senior Kierra Lee; Robeson County Early College junior Erica Hamilton Patterson; Scotland High School junior Maya Addai; Purnell Swett sophomore Syria Galbreath and Scotland High School sophomore Za’Kera Freeman.

The talent portion of the pageant will be judged by Maxton mayor Sallie McQueen, retired Scotland County educator Linda Douglas and Richmond County Sheriff James Clemmons. Zavery McDougald, from Robeson County’s “Dancing with the Stars,” will choreograph the event. Other guests include saxophonist Nyjel Graham and Voices of Unity, both of Laurinburg.

The program will begin at 7 p.m. at Scotland High School’s auditorium. Admission is free.
