Three-day tournament to be held

LAURINBURG — The Bridge-at-the-Village club met Monday under the direction of Brian Potter.

The team of Patsy Smith and Tim Rumph took first place. Betty Hasty and Lil Owens took second; Adele Clark and Mac Doubles won third; Charito Grady and Bonnie Purcell placed fourth. Betty Gatrell and Flo Johnston placed second in B.

A tournament, the Scotia Sectional, is planned for Feb. 28 to March 2 at Scotia Village.

Games on Feb. 28 will consist of single sessions. Charity open pairs will be played at 10 a.m., and open pairs, intermediate and novice pairs will be played at 2:30 p.m.

Games on March 1 will also consist of single sessions. Open pairs will be played at 10 a.m., followed by intermediate and novice pairs. At 2:30 p.m., open pairs will be played, followed by intermediate pairs and novice pairs.

On March 2, double sessions will be held, with open swiss and I/N swiss beginning at 10 a.m. Play-through will follow at 2:30 p.m.

Lunch will be served on all three days.

Stratifications are as follows: open pairs — unlimited, 0-300, 300-2000; intermediate — 0-100, 100-200 and 200-200; novice — 0-25 with eight or more pairs.
