To the editor:
I am writing to let everyone know about the lack of professionalism and courtesy demonstrated by the Laurinburg police officer who was directing traffic outside of Scotland High School on Monday.
First, he failed to properly block the driveway of the gas station with traffic cones or a sign in a professional manner. Then, he was extremely rude to me for absolutely no reason when I attempted to exit the unblocked portion of the driveway. If it had been properly blocked, I would not have attempted to use it.
When I told him this, he responded with more unnecessary rudeness. Maybe the police would get more cooperation from the public if they weren’t rude to people who have done nothing wrong. These issues could be solved if the Laurinburg Police Department were run in a modern fashion, with real oversight. People who cannot be professional and courteous should not be allowed to be police officers. Where is the oversight? This concept has been widely accepted by everyone else in America, why not us?
