LAURINBURG — Police are seeking a 41-year-old Laurinburg man who allegedly forced himself into the home of his ex-girlfriend and tied her up before stealing several items and driving away in her car.

Kenneth Wayne Ivey, of 413 Lees Mill Road, is charged with kidnapping, assault on a female, felony breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering.

According to Assistant Police Chief Cliff Sessoms, Ivey visited 38-year-old Lorie Carlyle, of New Street, at about 6 p.m. on Tuesday and following an altercation, pushed his way into the home. Carlyle called police at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday from a neighbor’s home, where she fled after she escaped her bonds.

Carlyle told police that Ivey had taken her cell phone, laptop and a debit card and driven away in her red 2006 Pontiac G6 sedan. She reported that the card has since been used.

“We are looking for him and we are obtaining warrants,” Sessoms said early Wednesday morning. “At this point we don’t know where he may be headed.”

Anyone with information should call the Laurinburg Police Department at 910-276-3211. The car has a North Carolina tag reading YXD1322.
