LAURINBURG — A Laurel Hill man has been arrested and charged with selling crack and prescription pills out of a Laurinburg hotel room, according to the Laurinburg Police Department.
Garry Dean Clark, 35, of 10621 Ida Chapel Road, is being held at the Scotland County jail under a $26,000 bond for several felonious charges. Officers of the department’s gang unit confiscated a handgun, illegal drugs and prescription medication from Clark’s room at the Holiday Inn Express, Police Chief Darwin Williams said.
“Our gang unit made this arrest acting on a tip,” Williams said. “It appears (Clark) was selling out of the room. He’s probably been doing it for some time.”
Clark was charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II, two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule III, one count of possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule IV, possession with intent to sell and deliver crack cocaine, maintaining a dwelling for keeping and selling a controllable substance and possession with drug paraphernalia.
Authorities seized a .40-caliber handgun, a digital scale, more than $2,600 cash, and .5 grams of crack cocaine as well as 26 pills — about 43.5 milligrams, of Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Xanax — from the room Clark had occupied, Williams said.
