LAURINBURG — Spring Hill Middle School was recently recognized as one of only 24 programs worldwide at the annual conference of the International Technology and Engineering Educator Association.

The Program Excellence Award is one of the highest honors given to Technology and Engineering classroom programs on the elementary, middle or high school levels.

Dr. Carolyn Banks, Carver Middle STEM Lab and Technology Education was presented the plaques and pins for the Engineering for All STEM project, Water: The World in Crisis.

The project focuses on the need for students to acquire social skills as well as technical knowledge. It was sponsored by Hofstra University, The National Science Foundation (NSF) and The International Technology Engineering Education Association.

Spring Hill Middle was recognized during the first general session of the conference.
