LAURINBURG — Samantha Smith, 26, of East Covington Street, was arrested on Wednesday under a warrant for one count of misdemeanor child abuse, according to police, for allegedly beating a child with a belt causing severe bruising. Smith was released under a written promise to appear in court.
Missing person
LAURINBURG — An 18-year-old Dixon Street resident was reported missing at 2 a.m. on Wednesday, according to police. Devonio Jimel Lindsey was last seen at 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, when he left the home on foot after a disagreement with a family member.
Thefts
LAURINBURG — A resident of Oakwood Drive reported the larceny of a pump action shotgun valued at $300 on Tuesday, according to police.
LAURINBURG — A Welch Street resident reported on Tuesday that someone stole 70 doses of oxycodone from her home, according to police.
LAURINBURG — A Loch Stone Drive resident reported on Tuesday that someone stole $2,200 worth of jewelry from the home, according to police.
