LAURINBURG – A Laurinburg man is accused of wielding a knife during the commission of a robbery Saturday night.
Alexander Breeden, 60, of Bostic Road, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon following the incident, according to Laurinburg Patrol Capt. Terry Chavis.
A Walmart associate reported to police that a man filled a plastic storage tub with seven packs of underwear, seven packs of t-shirts, and a knife and tried to leave the store. When the associate tried to stop him to ask for a receipt, the man threatened the employee with a knife and left the store, police said.
The man was later stopped by police and identified as Breeden, Chavis said.
The total value of the stolen items is $249.
Breeden was jailed under a $200,000 secured bond.
