Break in

LAURINBURG – Police responded to a call of a break in on Everett Street on Tuesday. The suspect entered the home by breaking in a door leaving $300 damages and stole a set of golf clubs which were later recovered valued at $50. The suspect fled on foot and was apprehended. Rodney Murphy, 29, of Marcellus Street was charged with resist delay and obstruct an officer, breaking and entering and larceny. He did not receive a bond, according to police.

Fraud

LAURINBURG – A resident of Mustang Court reported to police on Tuesday that someone stole her debit card and took $300 from the account at an ATM.

Larceny

LAURINBURG – An employee of Scotland Memorial Hospital reported to police on Tuesday that someone stole items from her purse on two occasions. On Feb 26, someone stole a financial card and made purchases, and on March 6, someone stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

LAURINBURG – An employee of Scotland County ABC reported to police that on Feb. 28 someone entered the store and stole a bottle of vodka valued at $65. A warrant for misdemeanor larceny has been sworn out for John Tyler Clark, 26, of East Vance Street.

LAUREL HILL – An employee of Dollar General located on Ida Mill Road reported to the sheriff’s office on Monday that someone stole 18 plastic storage bins.

Arrests

LAURINBURG – Wanda Bethea, 51, of Marcellus Street was arrested on charges of obtaining property by false pretense. Bethea is accused of taking items from the shelf at Walmart and attempting to return them for cash at customer service.
