The effort, sponsored by the Governor’s Highway Safety program, began Aug. 18 and will run until Sept. 4.

Over the weekend, law enforcement officials issued 14 speeding citations, one seat belt ticket, one careless and reckless violation, two violations for no driver’s license and other traffic charges.

Matthew Smith of Wagram was arrested for DWI.

Earlier in the month, the sheriff’s office participated in a Governor’s Highway Safety Program and issued more than 56 citations for various violations. The program lead to the apprehension of five wanted persons.
