GIBSON – Scotland County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a woman and an accomplice who scammed a Gibson resident out of $2,500.

The sheriff’s office is looking for Jennifer Graves, 33, of Hecht Place in Stanley, and an unknown male accomplice, according to Capt. Ruben Castellon, chief detective with the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office.

Graves is wanted for obtaining property by false pretenses and conspiracy to commit obtaining property by false pretenses.

On Aug. 8, deputies were called to a home on Gibson Road by a homeowner who said she had hired Graves to repair her roof and that Graves had taken her money and not done the work.

“After further investigation…on July 14, warrants for arrest were obtained against Jennifer Graves for allegedly creating a fictitious roofing company and presented herself as a legitimate business entity, subsequently having agreed to perform roofing services for the victim and collected monies for a service that was not rendered,” Castellon said.

Castellon said there “was not any legitimate business” and that Graves did not appear to be a roofer or licensed contractor.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-277-4258 or call 911.
