HAMLET – A Hamlet woman, who police say failed to return a Laurinburg rental car for nearly a two weeks, was arrested Wednesday by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

April Rush, 38, of 120 Morrow St., was charged with felony failure to return rental property and given a written promise to appear.

The car was reported missing by the manager of Enterprise Rent-A-Car on Atkinson Street in Laurinburg, according to Capt. Terry Chavis of the Laurinburg Police Department.

Rush had contracted to rent the 2017 Chevy Impala from April 11 to May 5. When she failed to return the vehicle and could not be contacted, a report was filed.

“Laurinburg police made contact with Hamlet PD who checked the address on the contract,” Chavis said.

Richmond County Sheriff’s Office located the car at 118 Morrow St. backed in so the license plate was concealed, authorities said.

The car was returned to Enterprise.
