LAURINBURG Dorothy Bolger was honored with a Hawaiian luau to celebrate her 94th Birthday with friends and family.

She lived in Florida from 1981 until she moved to North Carolina in 2014 to be closer to her family.

She always said,”Retiring in Florida was the closest she could get to living in Hawaii.” Throughout her life she has had the opportunity to vacation in Hawaii on six different occasions. Bolger always talks about going back there, but unfortunately, she is unable to fulfill that dream. So her family took her back to Hawaii in their Laurinburg backyard.

As guest arrived they were greeted with alohas and leis. Her grandson, Jonathan Easterlin provided musical entertainment.

Bolger and her guests dined on a Hawaiian buffet, enjoyed drinks from the Tiki Bar, and danced the Hula. Guest wore Hawaiian attire and took part in tropical scenario contests. The party was a success thanks to many friends and family members who helped. The family said a warm thank you goes out to everyone who attended and participated to make Dorothy’s day very special. Bolger’s grandson, Matthan Easterlin whose birthday fell on the same day as his grandmother’s special day said he enjoyed and happily celebrated with his grandmother on Aug. 16th.
