Our names are OShae D. Best and Briana N. Lowery. We are the Drum Majors for the 2009 Scotland High School Fighting Scots Marching Band dubbed as the “Pride of Scotland County.” We are writing this letter to reflect on this past marching band season. We would like to thank the Scotland High School Band Boosters for the tremendous support that we have been given this 2009 season. Also, we appreciate the support that we have received from the SHS staff and the Scotland County community. This is the first year the band has received a Grand Champion trophy since 2005; before that, 2003. This year, we have won numerous awards at each and every competition we’ve attended. The Percussion and Color Guard have consistently been scoring near or at the top of their class week in and week out. The band as a whole has seen great musical growth throughout the entire season. We have been able to maintain and grow the quality of “The Pride of Scotland County.” Our band has proven twice this season that we are a great marching band. We are proud of our band! The Laurinburg Christmas Parade is still coming up and we will proudly present a new Christmas song written especially for the marching band. Our marching band has been selected to attend the 2010 Thanksgiving Day parade in Philadelphia, PA. This is a great achievement for the marching band. We feel that this has been a successful season for the Fighting Scots Marching Band and for the seniors who had the chance to experience winning a Grand Champion trophy not once, but almost twice! We are both very proud of our band!
