Cancer Day celebration set for Friday

LAURINBURG — Scotland Cancer Treatment Center’s staff and physicians have planned a celebration to commemorate Cancer Survivors Day, proclaimed recently by Laurinburg Mayor Tommy Parker to be Friday.

The event, sponsored by Scotland Memorial Foundation and set for Laurinburg Presbyterian Church, will begin at 6:30 p.m. and in keeping with a “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” theme, will feature special guests The Tin Man, Dorothy, The Cowardly Lion and The Scarecrow.

Cancer survivors can attend, along with one guest, for free. Additional guests will be charged $15 each. Registration is not necessary.

The church is located at 600 W. Church St. Doors open at 6 p.m.
