FAYETTEVILLE — Morrison’s Martial Arts Academy of Tae-Kwon-Do traveled to Fayetteville to participate in the 9th Annual C.A.T.S Karate Black Belt Academy Halloween Throw Down Championship on October 26, and three members of “Team Phoenix” came back as winners.

The three winners were also brothers. Drew Martin placed first in the 11- and 12-year-old boys’ novice belt (white/yellow/orange) and intermediate belt (green/blue/purple) division in forms and sparring. He also finished first in four exhibition matches against four other opponents older than he. Martin is 9-years-old.

Jake Martin competed in the 6- and 7-year old novice division, and ended up finishing first in sparring. Alex Martin also claimed a victory in the 9- and 10-year-old group.

Kenny Morrison is the teacher, or Sa-bum, at the academy. He said the three did a good job of representing the team.

“Team Phoenix did an outstanding job at the championship. I couldn’t have asked for anything more from the team,” Morrison said.

In addition, all three Martin brothers are in the black belt leadership program at Morrison’s Martial Arts Academy.
