LAURINBURG — St. Andrews University will hold a tailgate Saturday as the soccer teams take on Virginia Intermont.
The women’s game begins at 11:30 a.m. with the men’s game to follow. Between games, the seniors from both St. Andrews teams will be honored.
“I am looking forward to an exciting weekend,” said men’s soccer coach Stevan Hernandez. “It will be great to see the Laurinburg and campus communities come together to support our teams. In addition, we will have an opportunity to recognize our seniors in their final home game for their hard work and dedication to our program and the University.”
Women’s coach Rick Parlow agrees, “I am hoping for a large community turnout to support our teams in their final regular season games of the year. The tailgating activities on campus will provide a lively and festive atmosphere for the community to cheer their Knights to victory.”
A tailgate special campus wide picnic will also be held. While students will be able to use their meal exchange for the picnic, community members will pay $10 for the all-you-can-eat buffet that will include standard picnic fare.
In addition to the soccer matches and the meal, half-time contests will be held. A raffle will be associated with each game and additional children’s activities will be set up at the perimeter of the field.
Tailgate parking will be designated around the field, with spaces available on a first come, first served basis.
