LAURINBURG — Two Laurinburg apartment complexes will become smoke free on Jan. 1.

Pinewood Park and Scottish Winds are two properties owned by Partnership Property Management that will be affected by the change.

Residents were notified in April.

“The best way to protect our property and our residents from secondhand smoke and the risk of fire is to stop allowing smoking in our buildings,” Rick Allen, vice president and chief operating officer of Partnership Property Management, said.

Other Parnership Property Management complexes that will be affected include Countryside and Woodcreek Village in Raeford; Willow Grove in Red Springs; Baldwin Place and Brookside in Maxton; Piney Pointe in Hamlet; and Falling Creek Village and The Pines in Rockingham.

Allen said that the company offers smoking cessations resources.
