LAURINBURG — Applications for a two-week exchange program with high-school students in Oban, Scotland are now available at the main office of Scotland High School and McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
Ten Scotland County students and two adult chaperones selected for the program will leave for Oban, Scotland on June 4 and return on June 19. The hosts in Oban will visit Laurinburg in October.
Applications will be available until Oct. 31. They must be completed and returned by Nov. 1. Interviews will be a few weeks later, and winners will be announced by Dec. 5.
Students visiting Oban will live with Oban High School students and their families, absorb the Scottish lifestyle, and visit some major historical sites in Scotland. There will be several scheduled group activities that have created strong bonds and lifeling friendships not only between students, but also between families.
Scholarship aid is available from the Laurinburg Rotary Club Scholarship and the Jane M. Purcell Memorial Scholarship.
