Five attitudes about giving

Proverbs 3:9 — “Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the first fruits of all your increase …”

When a Pastor starts talking about giving, most people immediately shut down. After all, the church only wants your money, right?

I want to highlight five Biblical attitudes about giving.

No. 1 — We should give out of conviction. A conviction that our giving should be based on scripture. No. 2 — We should give with clarity. The Bible is clear — not confusing — with regard to issue of giving. We should know why we give to God and to know its purpose. No. 3 — We should give out of our desire to care for the needy, and if it takes a level of sacrifice to meet the needs of those around us, then scripture calls for us to do so. No. 4 — We should give to our church. The first tenth is to be given in the first house, God’s church. No. 5 — We should give out of compassion for the lost!

These are five attitudes that you can research and find that the Scriptures teach about the area of giving. When we get our attitudes right, then we will have a New Hope for Today.
